Join us TODAY for the Monumental Day of Action! Sw Join us TODAY for the Monumental Day of Action! Swipe to see details for the city nearest you.

Not in Utah? You can still join us in solidarity as we protest Trump's action to slash nearly three million acres of protections for Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument.

Post a photo of you in one of the monuments or take a photo holding a sign of support, sharing your story and why you want to see National Monuments protected. Post to social and tag your congress members!

Most importantly, encourage folks to follow the Bears Ears Inter-Tribal Coalition (@bearsearscoalition) and the Grand Staircase-Escalante Inter-Tribal Coalition (@grandstaircasecoalition) to show solidarity with the Tribes who have stewarded these lands since time immemorial.
Slight change of plans. We've cancelled the event Slight change of plans. We've cancelled the event in Bountiful due to some unexpected planning hiccups, but have added an event in Ogden.

For those of you who haven't heard, we are hosting a Monumental Statewide Day of Action this Monday! Bring your friends, a sign (we’ll provide some too), and be ready to raise your voice against the Utah politicians who supported Trump's actions—reducing both Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monuments.

Note: SUWA advocates strongly for protecting Utah’s wild lands with strategies that meaningfully engage all cultures and abilities. We do so respectfully and firmly and we act within the law. We do not condone violence or destruction of property.

Bring a friend, a sign (we’ll provide some too), and be ready to raise your voice against the Utah politicians who supported Trump's actions—reducing both Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monuments by 90%.

*Note: we have canceled the Bountiful location and instead will be meeting in Ogden.

We'll be hosting events in Salt Lake, Provo, St. George and Moab. If you live in a town not listed and want to host your own pop-up protest, email Mimi at mimi@suwa.org and we'll provide a toolkit.

We’ve created monument-specific maps showing the n We’ve created monument-specific maps showing the new boundaries - Slide #1: Grand Staircase-Escalante. Slide #2: Bears Ears. Trump has decimated these two National Monuments by a combined 3 million acres, or over 90%.

SUWA will fight this in every way we can, using every tool in our toolbox for as long as necessary. Once again this will include litigation in the federal court system; we’ve been leading and participating in various cases since Trump’s first attempt at national monument reductions in 2017, and we will challenge today’s unlawful action in court.

Our response also includes ramping up our efforts to promote America’s Red Rock Wilderness Act, which would protect much of the land included in the monuments as wilderness. It will mean working closely with the @bearsearscoalition and @grandstaircasecoalition and our other nonprofit partners. It will mean continuing to work closely with our congressional champions and activating our members and activists in Utah and across the nation.

In moments like this, it’s easy to feel despair, and we understand why. There are many hard days and hard fights ahead—more weeks and months that will test our resolve to do the difficult work that can feel like one step forward, two steps back. But SUWA and the Protect Wild Utah movement are in this for the long haul, and we have a proven track record of defending the redrock against long odds.

We’re able to do the hard work of building powerful political support for public lands in Utah because we have so many passionate supporters like you nationwide. We’ll be calling on you again soon to reach out to your members of Congress, to spread the word about threats to Utah’s wild places, to join us in on-the-ground landscape protection, and more.

Thank you for standing with us.
