IT'S TIME TO ACT! Last Tuesday, House Republicans IT'S TIME TO ACT! Last Tuesday, House Republicans unveiled new, targeted attacks specifically on public lands in Utah and Nevada by sneaking in an amendment to the House Natural Resources Budget Reconciliation Bill. We need you to use your voice and speak up for public lands before it's too late!

For nearly 15 hours, House Democrats on the Natural Resources Committee fought hard to keep a barrage of attacks on public lands from being included in an extreme, anti-conservation budget reconciliation bill that will fund tax cuts for billionaires. Despite their best efforts, the budget bill passed out of committee.

Please call your representative today and let them know you oppose the House bill and its unprecedented sell-off of public lands! Our online tool makes it easy to find your rep. We provide their phone number and a script, you do the rest.

Today, the U.S. Senate approved H.J. Res. 60 which Today, the U.S. Senate approved H.J. Res. 60 which undoes a recently finalized rule from the National Park Service (NPS); the House of Representatives passed the resolution on April 29, 2025. The rule protects the ecological integrity and visitor experience of Glen Canyon National Recreation Area (NRA) by limiting off-highway vehicles and street-legal all-terrain vehicles on 25 miles of the park’s most delicate areas.

Utah’s Congressional delegation – led by Senators Curtis and Lee and Representative Maloy UT-02) – relied on an obscure law known as the Congressional Review Act (CRA) to pass resolutions of “disapproval” regarding the Park Service rule for Glen Canyon. This Republican-led Congress has used this Gingrich-era law to attack everything from rules covering management of the National Parks to clean air regulations to efficient hot water heaters and showerheads. Above is a quote from SUWA Staff Attorney, Hanna Larsen.

Last night, under the cover of darkness of a day-l Last night, under the cover of darkness of a day-long hearing and without an opportunity for review by other members of Congress or the public, Rep. Celeste Maloy (R-UT-02) introduced an amendment that would result in the sell-off of over 10,000 acres of federal public land in Utah.

This amendment to sell Bureau of Land Management (BLM) land was introduced during a House Natural Resources Committee hearing considering the FY25 Budget Reconciliation Bill. The amendment passed 23-18; it will now be considered by the full House of Representatives. Above is a statement from SUWA DC Director, Travis Hammill.
