On Wednesday, Utah Senator Mike Lee and Representa On Wednesday, Utah Senator Mike Lee and Representative Celeste Maloy introduced House Joint Resolution 151 and Senate Joint Resolution 109 under the Congressional Review Act (CRA) to undo the current Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument Management Plan.

If successful, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) will be barred from issuing another plan that is similar in the future. This would be a devastating blow to the monument on the ground and set a dangerous precedent for public lands across the nation.

Today, the elected officials behind 2025’s failed Today, the elected officials behind 2025’s failed public lands sell-off attempts - Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) and Rep. Celeste Maloy (R-UT-02)— introduced a joint resolution to undo the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument Management Plan using the Congressional Review Act (CRA).

If both chambers of Congress pass the measure by simple majority votes, the plan—which sets expectations for how these remarkable public lands will be managed—will be undone and the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) will be barred from issuing another plan that is “substantially the same” in the future.

A bit of good news in a challenging time. Last nig A bit of good news in a challenging time. Last night, a federal judge granted a motion by conservation organizations to block ground-disturbing activities associated with construction of the Northern Corridor Highway through the Red Cliffs National Conservation Area.

The court’s injunction prohibits the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) from starting construction-related activities that would cause irreparable harm to the threatened Mojave desert tortoise. UDOT insisted on moving forward with these activities as quickly as possible despite uncertainty about its final highway plans and conservation organizations’ pending lawsuit that seeks to again declare the highway illegal. In granting the injunction, the judge found that conservation organizations’ lawsuit is likely to succeed in showing the highway approval is unlawful.
