Events in Utah to Keep Labyrinth Canyon Wild

Oct 7th, 2025 Written by suwa

Right now, the Trump administration is proposing to greenlight more dirt bikes, side-by-sides, and other off-road vehicles in Labyrinth Canyon—a goal of the State of Utah and certain motorized groups that want to transform quiet, wild places into motorized playgrounds.

Labyrinth Canyon is too special to meet this fate, and we need you to speak up! See below for information about upcoming events in Salt Lake City and Moab where you can learn more and get involved. And if you can’t join us in person, you can still watch Keep Labyrinth Canyon Wild, a short film commissioned by SUWA, on our website.

Salt Lake City

  • Join SUWA staff for a film screening, information session, and comment writing workshop on Tuesday, October 21 from  6:00-7:30 pm at the Salt Lake City Public Library Main Branch (210 E 400 S). This event is free, but please let us know you’re coming!

  • Join our friends from the Glen Canyon Institute for a screening and panel discussion about the documentary, What the River Knows, on Thursday, October 23 at 7:00 pm at the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center (138 Broadway). Keep Labyrinth Canyon Wild will also be screened and we’ll have a staffed information table on site. This event requires tickets, which must be purchased in advance.

Moab

  • Join SUWA for a film screening, information session, and comment writing workshop on Wednesday, October 15 from 6:00-7:30 pm at Moab Arts and Recreation Center (111 E 100 N). This event is free, but please let us know you’re coming!

Online: Can’t join us in Salt Lake City or Moab? You can still watch Keep Labyrinth Canyon Wild online and take action on our website before the comment deadline on Friday, Oct. 24.

The Labyrinth Canyon stretch of the Green River is a gem of the American West, providing a multi-day flatwater wilderness adventure suitable for families and boaters of all experience levels. The area is home to irreplaceable cultural and historic resources, important wildlife habitat for species like desert bighorn sheep and Mexican spotted owl, and unmatched quiet recreational opportunities.

Don’t hesitate to send this email to friends, family, or colleagues who you know have floated Labyrinth Canyon or who love the redrock. We need everyone to speak up for Labyrinth!
