Last week, 50 redrock activists flew to D.C. to ad Last week, 50 redrock activists flew to D.C. to advocate for America's Red Rock Wilderness Act (ARRWA)! We visited over 220 offices, informing them on the sacred lands we work to protect.

Shoutout to redrock champions @repstansbury and @senatordurbin—for being original co-sponsors of the bill. Contact your representatives TODAY and ask them to cosponsor America’s Red Rock Wilderness Act! Link in bio. #ProtectWildUtah
Yesterday, the Idaho-based Blue Ribbon Coalition a Yesterday, the Idaho-based Blue Ribbon Coalition and others sued the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) over the recently finalized San Rafael Swell Travel Management Plan. Below is a statement from SUWA Staff Attorney, Laura Peterson.

“The motorized recreation groups filing this lawsuit are bound and determined to make Utah’s remarkable San Rafael Swell nothing more than a playground for off-road vehicles and side-by-sides; a place where it’s impossible to find peace and quiet. We’re not going to stand by and let that happen.

While BLM’s recently-completed San Rafael Swell travel plan got many things wrong, one thing it did right was not opening roughly 650 miles of so-called “routes” in the Swell to motorized vehicles. These 650 miles include trails that were created in the past fifteen or so years through illegal motorized use and are located in stream corridors and wash bottoms, run through cultural sites and lead to users causing real and serious environmental damage. Others are simply lines on a map that do not exist on the ground.” — Laura Peterson, SUWA Staff Attorney

What is Wilderness Week!? Every March, activists f What is Wilderness Week!? Every March, activists from across the country fly in to Washington DC to lobby for America's Red Rock Wilderness Act (ARRWA)—legislation that would add more than 8 million acres of public lands in Utah to the National Wilderness Preservation System.

Our activists spend weeks setting up and prepping for these meetings, so they can inform their representatives on why protecting this land is so important and what it means to them.

Check out this infographic to learn more about ARRWA & help support the work these activists are doing by visiting our action page and reaching out to your reps TODAY! Link in bio.

Utah Senator John Curtis is not who he says he is. Utah Senator John Curtis is not who he says he is.

For years, he has carefully cultivated his persona as a climate-conscious Republican, launching the do-nothing Conservative Climate Caucus and insisting he wants to bring his party around on environmental issues. He can talk a good game about collaboration and the dire threat climate change poses to our world, but his steady stream of anti-conservation actions speak louder than those words. In fact, the League of Conservation Voters gives him a 6% congressional lifetime score, making him one of the worst senators on environmental issues.

--He introduced legislation to kill the Bureau of Land Management’s Public Lands Rule—a common-sense rule that makes sure conservation is kept “front of mind” as the BLM goes about its work. Curtis’s bill would rescind it entirely.

--He cosponsored a bill to dismantle the Antiquities Act—the bill would require congressional approval for new national monuments, effectively stripping future presidents of the ability to protect threatened landscapes quickly.

--He co-wrote a letter in 2023 filled with misinformation and half-truths urging his colleagues in the House of Representatives to oppose America’s Red Rock Wilderness Act—our flagship legislation that would protect millions of acres of wilderness across Utah.

From the beginning, we’ve seen through his attempts to greenwash his image and keep his seat while ensuring oil, gas, and mining companies get exactly what they want.

Please donate today and help us keep the pressure on Congress to prioritize meaningful land conservation across Utah. Link in bio.
