Today conservation groups challenged President Tru Today conservation groups challenged President Trump’s July 2026 unlawful decimation of Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monuments. The groups filed suit in U.S. District Court seeking to reactivate litigation against Trump’s 2017 monument rollbacks and challenge both sets of illegal proclamations together.

The BLM is AGAIN proposing to designate ten backco The BLM is AGAIN proposing to designate ten backcountry airstrips for private aircraft use in the Moab and Monticello areas. Several are located in remote, ecologically sensitive landscapes near Gemini Bridges/Labyrinth Canyon, Canyonlands National Park, and the original boundaries of Bears Ears National Monument.

These areas support bighorn sheep, burrowing owls, ferruginous hawks, and other wildlife, and the BLM acknowledges that aircraft noise and visual intrusions would diminish natural soundscapes and solitude.
