Salt Lake City, UT Today, Utah Governor Spencer Cox delivered his annual State of the State address to the Utah Legislature. Below is a statement from SUWA Executive Director Scott Groene. A recording of the 2024 address can be found on KUER website; additional information about State of the State, including recordings of previous year’s addresses, can be found here

Utahns love our public lands and are increasingly concerned about the loss of nature in our growing state. We remain disappointed with Governor Cox’s continued assault on Utah’s federal public lands,” said Scott Groene, Executive Director of the Southern Utah Wilderness Alliance.

“We appreciate his remarks tonight and commend his emphasis on civil dialogue to discuss difficult issues. Unfortunately, over the past year the Governor’s actions have not matched his words. The Governor and his cabinet have refused to take on hateful and demeaning language by other elected officials. Utahns deserve better and we hope and expect that in 2024 the Governor’s actions will match his rhetoric.”
