As you know, public lands are facing serious threats on multiple fronts. Sadly, Grand Staircase-Escalante and Bears Ears National Monuments remain targets of both the Trump administration and Utah’s own elected officials. It’s a matter of when, not if, we must rise again in urgent defense of our national monuments.
If you’ve been looking for a way to show your support for these public lands, we’ve got an opportunity! We encourage you to join with fellow monument supporters from across the country for a Day of Action to Defend National Monuments and Public Lands on Saturday, June 7th! Here are some suggestions:
- On Saturday, June 7th, gather your friends and family and head to your favorite national monument, national park, or other close-to-home public land.
- Make a sign (or print this one). Message ideas include: “Not for Sale / No Se Vende,” “Public Lands in Public Hands,” “Hands Off National Monuments,” or “Public Lands, Not Private Profit.”
- In southern Utah? Stand near a national monument sign or entrance point, notable landmark, or gorgeous view. Show your signs, take a photo or short video, and tag SUWA on social media (Facebook, Instagram, and Bluesky).
- In Salt Lake City? Join SUWA at the Pollinator Pride Party!
Can’t make it out to public lands on Saturday? That’s okay! Add your name to our petition demanding continued full protection of Grand Staircase-Escalante and Bears Ears.
Now is a key moment to remind the Trump administration that ongoing efforts to gut, weaken, or eliminate our national monuments are wildly unpopular with the American public. We’ll keep you updated on future opportunities to help defend National Monuments.
