The Southern Utah Wilderness Alliance (SUWA) is seeking a full-time law clerk for the summer 2025 season! Summer law clerks have the opportunity to work with SUWA’s legal team on ongoing litigation and policy advocacy for durable public land conservation policies--focusing on a large array of issues including preventing fossil fuel development, promoting balanced travel and recreation management, and the protection of cultural resources. Clerks may draft memos and litigation documents, complete legal research, and attend court proceedings and depositions.

This position is flexible, beginning mid-May to mid-August and is located in Salt Lake City, Utah. Applications are due March 1, 2025. For more information, visit suwa.org/careers or head to the link in our bio.

Note: SUWA accepts applications from rising 2L and 3L students with preference for 3Ls. Course history or prior experience relevant to environmental, public lands, and administrative law is also preferred.

SUWA’s 2025 Stewardship Project Calendar is now live!

For a decade, SUWA’s Stewardship Program has played a direct role in implementing our legal and policy wins on the ground. Our program was built out of need, with a vision to organize people, resources, and goodwill toward the betterment of public lands in Utah through hands-on restoration work.

Head over to suwa.org/projectcalendar (link in bio) to read more about each project. Every listing provides a rundown of the project scope, as well as the general application and acceptance process. You may apply for up to two projects for the 2025 season.

Last night we gathered together to celebrate the kickoff to our tenth year of the SUWA Stewardship Program! The night consisted of hearty Winter Stew from The Bluebird Stand, reflecting on the origins of our program, and looking ahead to the work still to come with our long-time volunteers, community partners, SUWA members and staff, and newcomers! Attendees got a special preview of the 2025 Project calendar – be on the lookout for the calendar + sign-up link on Monday. If you attended and took photos, share them and tag us @protectwildutah.
