2024 Stewardship Scholarships

$450 Grants to Utah-based Students – open on a rolling basis

SUWA acknowledges the structural barriers many communities face when seeking solace in wild, natural places. Our Stewardship Scholarship program offers scholarships to students who join an immersive stewardship project on public lands in Utah with SUWA. Stewardship Scholars join a two-day project, working with other volunteers and SUWA staff to manage wilderness hands-on.

Eligibility

To qualify, applicants must be enrolled at least half-time in an accredited college, university, vocational school, or technical school in Utah. Applicants are selected from historically underserved communities, self-identified by each applicant within the scholarship application. Scholars will attend (1) service project with SUWA staff and other volunteers. Following the project, scholars produce reflective media (such as a written or visual piece). Upon completion of this program, SUWA awards a $450 stipend/educational scholarship.

Loaned camping gear and other supplies, as well as transportation to and from the project site may also be provided upon request.

Apply Online

The Stewardship Scholarship application is available online. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. If you have any questions please contact scholar@suwa.org.
