SUWA Statement on Release of Draft Bears Ears National Monument Management Plan – 3.8.24

Salt Lake City, UT – SUWA issued the following statement in response to today’s announcement by the Bureau of Land Management and U.S. Forest Service that a draft Bears Ears National Monument Management Plan is now available for public comment.

“Today, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and Forest Service released the draft Bears Ears National Monument Management Plan for a 90-day public comment period. This is a major milestone and step towards ensuring that this spectacular landscape is managed to conserve its extraordinary values, in collaboration with the Five Tribal Nations that comprise the Bears Ears Commission. As we review the plan, stay tuned for information about upcoming public meetings (hosted by federal agencies) and ways to share comments about the plan.”
