The Department of the Interior has announced plans

The Department of the Interior has announced plans to rescind the Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) Public Lands Rule. Among other things, the Rule reiterates that conservation is a key component of the BLM’s multiple-use mission and ensures that the agency will consistently manage for that use across the nation’s western public lands. The Rule was the product of an extensive, years-long public process with multiple in-person and online meetings and opportunities for public comment. 92% of the comments received by BLM supported the Rule. Today, the Fix Our Forests Act or FOFA (S. 1462) was introduced in the U.S. Senate.

During the 119th Congress, FOFA (H.R.471) was first introduced in the House by Rep. Bruce Westermann (R-AR-04) and on January 23, 2025, it passed the House of Representatives.

America's Red Rock Wilderness Act—federal legislation that would protect over 8 million acres of public land in Utah as wilderness—has been reintroduced in the 119th Congress by redrock champions Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) and Representative Melanie Stanbury (D-NM-01)!
