SUMMARY:Latino Conservation Week Community Campout - FULL
DESCRIPTION:*This project is full!  If you are interested in joining a future Latino Conservation Week event\, connect with SUWA’s Comunidad Latina Organizer\, Diana Haro at diana@suwa.org. \n\nThe Landscape \nThe Manti-La Sal National Forest covers more than 1.2 million acres (4\,900 km2) and is located in the central and southeastern parts of Utah and the extreme western part of Colorado. The La Sal Mountains are located south/southeast of Moab\, Utah in Grand and San Juan Counties. The name of the range dates to Spanish times\, when the Sierra La Sal (meaning the “Salt Mountains”) were a prominent landmark on the Old Spanish Trail between Santa Fe and Los Angeles. The range features magnificent aspen forests and high elevation lakes. Join us in celebrating Latino Conservation Week with a weekend in the mountains! \n\nThe Event \nThis project will focus on celebrating Latino Conservation Week during an educational\, community campout in southern Utah. A full itinerary will be provided to accepted volunteers. \nThe final morning of the weekend will include an opportunity to work on your public lands while learning about the jobs and people whose job it is to protect wild Utah! All work tools will be provided\, including gloves\, eye protection\, and ear-protection. \nProject Rating \nEasy –Expect to walk on some uneven terrain\, but in close proximity to trails and camp. Project work may include some light tool use. \nAll projects take place outdoors: Please consider your comfortability working in remote landscapes at varying elevations and under variable weather conditions.
